Cedar Run Song Workshops: General Info
Classes
(Please click here.)
** At Cedar Run, we offer four 75 minute class periods per day. (Please note, though, that afternoon classes run Sunday through Thursday, and morning classes run Monday through Friday.) If you like having a full schedule, you are welcome to register for four different classes. We recommend that you think carefully on the pace that you'd like to maintain during the week and on the things that you'd like to accomplish. You may find that your needs are better served by putting together a "lighter" schedule of two or three classes for yourself that will allow time for writing, practicing, swimming, taking a walk down to the banks of the Rapidan River, or just haning out in the hammock by Oak House.
** Our week will begin with a short orientation session on Sunday afternoon, after which we'll plunge right into classes. The two afternoon class blocks will run from Sunday through Thursday. The morning class blocks will run from Monday morning through Friday.
We'll close the week with a "debriefing" get-together just before lunch on Friday, after which we'll hit the road for the trip home.
** One of the things that makes Cedar Run unique among workshop programs is our commitment to keeping classes small. Consequently, you will find that all of our classes are limited to no more than 8 students. This guarantees each student in every class a maximum of individual attention and staff accessibility. Please be aware that our small classes also mean that classes fill early, so register soon!
** Class slots are assigned on a first come - first served basis, based on when registrations are received. However, your class slot is not *guaranteed* until your registration is paid in full. If a class fills, a waiting list will be created, and any slots that open up will be reassigned on the same first come - first served basis according to date of registration.
** Our guarantee of small classes requires that everyone stay with the classes for which they are registered as of July 6th. We *may* be able to accommodate some changes on the first day of classes, but these will be limited.
** The majority of the classes that we offer are intended to be useful for students of diverse levels of skill and experience. Classes that are intended for more advanced students or are, in some way, narrower in focus are so noted in course descriptions.
** Classes are informal and participatory. Students should bring their own instruments as appropriate, and are encouraged to bring audio recorders, notebooks, pens/pencils, laptops, etc., in order to be able to take it all in.
Video recording via any means - video camera, laptop, or cellphone - is prohibited unless prior arrangements have been made with the Cedar Run office and, subsequently, with the instructor involved. If such permissions are given, the recordist has a strict responsibility to do so in a manner that does not distract or interfere with the flow of the class.
